Only time will tell if Sophia, Alec and the world are ready to accept the mission that has been passed down for many generations. This is more than a story of reincarnation. This is a story that never ended following the reign of the Greek gods.
What has been hidden for thousands of years is about to surface in a small New England town. The impact on this rural village is ageless, but only the chosen time travelers know what is happening, the reason it is happening and how to control the outcome.
The Men of Ages have walked the Earth unnoticed since the time of Greek mythology and have kept their ancient war alive by transporting the lead warrior in a most unusual time machine. There is only one way to stop the cataclysmic demise of the human race and Sophia is the answer. But, Sophia is a teenage girl faced with many human and nonhuman desires that create a tortuous path from antiquity to the present day. Love conquers all; or, so it seems.

Sophia Within eBook Jordana Lizama William Rau Reviews
I must admit that I don't normally read YA books so my perceptions are a bit tainted. I love the cover (kudos to the artist). The story, on the other hand, I would not say that I loved. I like the concept of it but the delivery could use more polish.
The characters were very well written and that is what kept me interested in the story for the most part. What bothered me the most was the fact that the story climaxed about two-thirds of the way through with no clear, decisive defeat of the enemy. This is fine if you are planning a sequel but not as a standalone. I kept waiting for the second attack...which never came.
Overall, the story left me unsatisfied. There are too many unanswered questions in my mind. I hope the author will do a follow-up story to address these issues because I would definitely read it to satisfy my curiosity.
I gave it four stars...partly for the cover art and the rest was for the characters and concept.
The plot was fascinating, the ideas creative and the main character strong, but the pace almost lost me. A lot of this book is dialogue, and when characters talk too much, a lot of the story is gone. From the many books I have read, I know you need a balance, and stating the obvious is not necessary. Neither are umpteen exclamation points.
I only finished this book because I wanted to see how things would end for Sophia. I'm guessing this is the author's first attempt at completing a novel, and while I'm in no way saying the book was bad, technique can be improved in more ways than one.
That being said, if you like Greek mythology powered with a strong cast in present time and a tinge of romance, you will definitely like this book. Recommended reading but some flaws may not sit well with more experienced readers.

n Sophia Within, Sophia is a relatively quiet girl who seems to lack confidence in herself. She keeps her head down, studies to get good grades and pretty much just tries to float through high school unnoticed. Her daydreaming does seem to get her in trouble quite a bit though, which lands her in detention. That's where she meets Alec, the strange boy who seems to know more about Sophia than she does herself.
Sophia soon discovers that Alec can read her mind. She also discovers a lot more from him. For instance, she finds out that she carries a nymph within her and that she is part of an epic battle that's as old as the Greek gods themselves. How can one quiet human girl protect the being she carries inside as well as all of humanity? With the help of a cute guy, of course!
I love the idea behind Sophia Within. It's such an interesting plot that really hasn't been done yet. It's originality is what drew me to the story. While there were some elements that I can't say I loved- like how Alec doled out tiny bits of information at an infuriatingly slow pace, and how Sophia pretty much believed in him the moment they met- it was a fun afternoon read.

While this author has an interesting concept she gets distracted. There are slips in continuity and some instances of poor writing.
I haven't read a story quite like it before. I enjoyed the story, but felt a little sorry for the nymph.
I downloaded the kindle version and found it to be lacking editing. To the point of being very annoying. The premise of the book is good, however the main character was a bit too whiney at times.
The concept was inviting. However, I struggled with the spelling and grammar issues. I felt like I was reading a draft rather than finished novel. That being said, the story did keep me reading until the end. Note, author did add "To be continued" and it did indeed feel unfinished.
The general idea was interesting, but that is all! The plot is loose, the writing should have been subjected to a good reviewer. Too many loose ends...
