I'm always looking for fun, clean books and this one was an excellent choice. Nice job!
I had a hard time putting this book down. I think we all want to be a part of a magical realm and it was incredibly enjoyable following Lainey on her journey.
Different! Would have liked more.
I bought this book for my preteen daughter while we were on a vacation in California and she didn't want to put it down even to go to Disneyland. She said that it was so good with many interesting plot twists. It really pulled her in right from the start and she just loved it. Now I can't wait to read the book myself.
I enjoyed the book very much, I am not good at crossword puzzles though and so that did not interest me. I love how Shaunna ended the book with an ending that could end it or leave it open to possibly a sequel. I was a little disappointed in how the relationship with her mother was left unresolved. Maybe it is for the next story though.
I don't typically lean toward this type of story - but I was pleasantly surprised! This is a quick, easy read.
The writing was well done, with a great plot.
Both of the books by this author are worth your time (although very different).
I am looking forward to the next one.... I wonder what Shaunna Sanders will bring us next!
It is obvious much thought went into this book. I found myself thinking "Well maybe there could be fairies." But what I like best about this book is that it was well written. The book Stein on Writing is great for aspiring writers. I've read it a couple times. It hasn't made me a good writer. But it has given me an appreciation for what good writing looks like. If I were an English teacher, Stein's book would be assigned reading. I would then assign Firebird by Shaunna Sanders as an example of how it's done.
