Darkest Day delivered in every way I wanted it to, and I was thrilled from the very beginning. Book one in the trilogy left me wanting more with every word, and this book is not one bit behind. From the first page I found myself drawn right back into the action, the possibilities, and the mystery. I am legitimately impressed with the authors' ability to keep track of so many characters and plot lines! There is so much going on, and yet they beautifully weave each plot line and idea into an intricate and well-put-together story that will have you at the edge of your seat. I was extremely satisfied with the adventure and quality of this book, and the only disappointment was realizing I was at the end!In this second installment, the authors continue to explore the "what ifs" that were encountered in the first book, and take them even farther, the biggest question being "what if Marilyn Monroe hadn't died, and what if she knew something that could have prevented the assassination of President Kennedy?" If you love adventure, intrigue, historical fiction, Marilyn Monroe, and being hooked by a good story, you'll love this book.
If you are looking for a clean, family friendly book, this isn't it, as it contains a lot of strong language, some violence, and some scenes with adult content. If this isn't something you are worried about, then I highly recommend that you check out this book, as it will not disappoint! 5 stars, all the way!

Wonderful writing, and a thrilling tale that makes pondering the "what-if" questions posed fun! The portraits that are painted of all the historical characters are done so well, you really feel like you are in the room with them. Highly recommend it!
Loved this book it continues on from Fateful Night leaves off. This book is about if Kennedy faked his death. Great reading. Love the different t twists and turns. And Marilyn is definitely a fighter.(don't want to give too much detail and spoil the book) I hope the third book in the trilogy comes out soon. A very enjoyable book
In this, the second of the What She Knew Trilogy, the action, intrigue, and suspense give the reader no quarter. Page after page the intensity builds, the circles within circles spin, and the webs become more intricately woven. And just as Darkest Day reaches its climactic point, the reader is left breathless, and anxious for the next installment.
Fateful Night answered the question...what if Marilyn Monroe had lived. Now...Darkest Day takes it a step further answering the questions...what if John Kennedy had also lived and...what if...they found each other?
Well...I know the answers to these questions now but I'm not telling because I wouldn't want to ruin it for you. All I will say is...I love what Ms. Burns and Ms. Hughes have done with history...and I think you will, too!
The minute I started to read the Darkest Day I was hooked. It instantly drew me to the world full of lies and conspiracy bigger than no one could imagine. The plot thickens page by page and you simply cannot stop reading! Being a huge fan of Marilyn's I was highly entertained by the scenes the authors 'painted' before my eyes. Yes, I know it's fiction but there is still that nagging voice in my head...what if?
I can highly recommend this book to all Marilyn lovers and can't wait to read what these talented writers will create for the readers next!
"Darkest Day" by K.R. Hughes and T.L. Burns picks up right where the first book in the trilogy leaves off and seamlessly takes the reader on a series of 'what if' scenarios about the Kennedy/Monroe connection.
The suspense in this second book keeps you on the edge of your seat and begs for answers to each twist and turn that happens page after page. There are so many difference subplots going on that you can definitely get a little confused, but not too much to be bothersome.
I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series to see what happens next to Monroe and Kennedy and all of the others in this fantastical storyline.
"Darkest Day" took me back in time to when I was nine years old. I didn't know much about Marilyn Monroe, but I did know and love our President. The drama, suspense and constant action in this work keeps you riveted to the pages, never knowing what lies around the corner. The characters, mostly familiar through history, become alive and take on an additional persona that the writers construct. Creative writing from these two authors' pulls you into a world of cover up, deceit and tragedy, and during all of this, you are never really certain who to trust.
Fast paced, edgy, visceral, and page after page of gritty intrigue, you begin to get inside the characters and the "what ifs" just keep coming. So well crafted, you see what the individuals see, feel what they feel, sense what they sense. Great visual writing places you in the book, living every moment with each character.
Filled with suspense and high powered action, this is a must read!
